As of October 2006, there has been a total of  28 Waste Minimisation Clubs initiatives in South Africa. of these initiatives, 3 failed from the beginning due to lack of support and interest from either the companies or the local government structures, or funding problems. The remaining 25 Waste Minimisation Clubs comprises 272 companies throughout South Africa. These WMC's have been run on four of the nine provinces, namely KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng, The Eastern Cape and The Western Cape.

Of these, 1 is a national in-house club, 4 are based in KwaZulu Natal, 5 in Gauteng and Northern Province, 1 in the Eastern Cape, and 14 in the Western Cape.
